Garanlabel

The GARAN label: what applies from 27 September 2026

Where the producer gives a commercial guarantee of durability, the seller has to show it with the harmonised EU label. Here is whether it applies to you, what the label must show — and here are the files.

Deadline: 27 September 2026 — Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/1960

Does it apply to me?

This is not the legal guarantee of conformity. It is the commercial guarantee of durability that the producer gives voluntarily. The duty to display it falls on the trader offering the product.

If one of these does not hold, nothing else changes: the legal guarantee and your other information duties stay exactly as they are. Only this label falls away.

What the label must show

The label is fixed down to the typeface. Only three fields may be changed: the guarantee duration, the brand or trademark and the model identifier. Everything else — the title, the EU emblem, the calendar symbol, the QR code and the translation band in all 24 official languages — is reproduced unchanged.

Only three fields differ: 5, Nordwind, NW-140 Kettle. The brand is invented for the example.

The nested strip carries the duration and nothing else — no brand, no model. That makes a ready-made file a finished file: take the duration of your guarantee and put it beside the product. SVG stays sharp at any size; PNG is there for shop software that will not take an SVG.

See every duration — half years up to 10, whole years up to 30.

The full label, with brand and model

The full label carries your brand and model identifier, so there can be no ready-made file for it — it has to be produced. That is what Garanlabel is for, an app for the Mac (listed as Garan Label Generator):

Questions people ask

Is this the European Commission's official tool?

No. Garanlabel is independent and is not affiliated with the European Commission or any other EU institution. The Commission publishes the label's artwork precisely so that producers and sellers can reproduce it; we pass it on unchanged and fill in only the three fields the regulation marks as editable.

Is 2.5 years allowed?

Yes. Whole years and half years, written with a comma. What is not allowed is using the label for two years or less.

May I print the strip?

No. The nested strip is for digital display. In print and in the shop you use the full label, at no less than 95 × 100 mm.

May the label be black and white?

In physical shops only. Online it must appear in colour.

What does it cost?

The files on this page are free. In the Mac app, single labels are free forever; you pay only for batch generation of whole catalogues, and the first 10 labels of that are free too.

Where do the files come from?

From the European Commission's vector files, published alongside its practical guidelines. The fixed elements are reproduced unchanged.

Not legal advice. This page reports the content of the regulation and the practical guidelines as accurately as we can, and cites the passage for every point. Only the official text is authoritative. Whether a product falls under the duty, and how the label is displayed, remains your responsibility — check every label before you use it.
